Sadly, we share the news that our Honorary President Ron Munro passed away in September at the age of 92. His funeral service highlighted what many of us already knew - Ron was genuinely a people person who loved speaking to anyone and everyone. He had a remarkable gift for offering kind and encouraging words to our bowlers, particularly those beginners who needed that extra boost to their confidence. His cries of ‘good back wood’ could often be heard as a long bowl narrowly avoided entering the ditch.

We will miss him and his wonderful collection of stories – from his early bowling days in Aberdeen, his experiences of life in the army in Singapore following the war, and his time as a trade unionist when working for the local Scottish newspapers. His stories often illustrated how he’d outsmarted management to make life easier for those around him.

He will be remembered with affection.
